Event Overview
The International Playoneers Study Tour is a Reggio-inspired professional learning journey designed for early childhood leaders working with children aged 0–8.
Across five immersive days in the UK, participants engage in studio-based learning, setting visits and professional dialogue to support reflection and implementation.
Grounded in the Playoneering® approach, the programme focuses on how educators design intentional environments, provocations and interactions that support deep thinking and enquiry.
Led by Hayley Peacock & expert Atelieristas from UK settings rated Outstanding + triple Exceptional (Ofsted). Partners with the Fondazione Reggio Children on the Roots to Routes Project.
Programme Structure
Participants attend immersive studio days within the Playoneering® Studio, exploring atelier environments including light, materials, graphics and loose parts.
These sessions create space for deep reflection, hands-on exploration and professional dialogue. Features training and workshops led by Hayley Peacock and the pedagogy team. These days create space for deep reflection, collaborative enquiry and hands-on exploration of Playoneering practice.
Setting Visits
Participants visit some of Little Barn Owls settings and Atelier 21 Future School, observing Playoneering® pedagogy in action and engaging with leaders and practitioners.
Shadowing day
One immersive Shadow Days at our early childhood settings offering opportunities to observe pedagogical leadership in action, engage in professional dialogue and deepen understanding of reflective practice within established Playoneering contexts.
The Shape of the Week
This study tour has been thoughtfully designed as a rhythm of immersion, dialogue and reflection – creating space for ideas to evolve and practice to deepen over time.
Sun 27 Sep - Arrival & Connection
We begin by coming together as a learning community. An informal welcome, with wild swimming and a shared BBQ at the International Playoneering Studio, offers time to connect, settle and begin the journey together.
Mon 28 Sep - Studio Immersion
A full studio day dedicated to workshops and professional dialogue with Hayley Peacock and her pedagogy team. Expect provocations, shared thinking and opportunities to explore practice through a Playoneering lens./p>
Tue 29 Sep - Encounters with Practice
Visits to Little Barn Owls Woodland Nursery and Atelier 21 School offer rich insight into Reggio-inspired environments in action. The afternoon returns to the studio for workshops and CPD, creating space to reflect on what has been seen and experienced.
Wed 30 Sep & Th 1 Oct - Deepening Through Practice
Across these two days, the group will move between shadowing in settings and studio-based workshops and CPD. Working in two smaller groups, participants will alternate experiences – spending one day immersed in practice alongside educators, and one day in the studio engaging in dialogue, reflection and pedagogical exploration. This rhythm allows for both depth of observation and time to think together about what is unfolding.
Fri 2 Oct - Reflection & Cultural Exploration
We close with a reflective morning – capturing learning, sharing insights and considering next steps. An optional half-day cultural visit to Brighton offers a final opportunity to connect, notice and be inspired beyond the studio.
